Father, Glorify Thy Name

“Father, glorify thy name.” - John 12.28

This is a prayer Jesus prayed a few days before His crucifixion.

Four words.

Four words so full of meaning we do well to think about them.

“Father, glorify thy name.”

A Troublemaker or Truth Teller

“Art thou he that troubleth Israel?” -1 Kings 18.17

Here is recorded the classic question of the wicked King Ahab regarding the Prophet Elijah - “Art thou he that troubleth Israel?”

What a terrible thing to be accused of!  By the King no less!

“Troublemaker!”

Maybe Elijah needed to reconsider his approach…

Thy Kingdom Come

“...and giveth it to whomsoever he will. ” - Daniel 4.25

Speaking of God’s power over all of the earth the Book of Daniel makes it clear to us that all the kings and leaders of this world are there because of His will – He does allow man to rule himself... sadly though, man’s “self-rule” without the help of the Creator is a path to self-destruction.

Which is why we can, and must pray, Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth,” Matthew 6.10

The Basest of Men

“...the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men. ” - Daniel 4.17

Isn’t that a MOST INTERESTING STATEMENT?!

“...and setteth up over it the basest of men. ”

The word “base” there means “low”.

Well... isn’t that interesting?  God said it.  It’s in the Bible.  It is true.

Turn Us O God

Turn us, O God”

Psalm 85.4

This should also be our prayer!!!  We believe this Psalm is speaking of the time that Israel returned from the years of captivity in Babylon and the previous verses speak of the things that the Lord had clearly done:

“LORD, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob. Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.” (vs 1-3)

Is Christ In You

“…if Christ be in you…” -Romans 8.10

Is He?  Sadly some people just do not know!

Yet, it is very simple: Either Christ is in us, or Christ is not in us.  We will know for sure because He will tell us!  (“The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:” verse 16)

But now to this thought:  “And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.”

Fight the Good Fight of Faith

“Fight the good fight of faith” - 1 Timothy 6.12

Below is a short article regarding our Baptist Heritage.  Keep in mind, true Baptists are not Protestants, we never came out of the Roman Catholic Church in “protest”…  we were never in the Roman Catholic Church!

Beware of False Prophets

“The prophets prophesy falsely... and my people love to have it so:” - Jeremiah 5.31

There are so many “Christians” out there today who do not seem to understand what the Bible says about our day and time.  They say, “Why is there confusion in religion today?”

Many seem to wonder why “we Christians” don’t all agree on everything.

The reason “Why” is because the Lord said our day and time will be a time of heresy and apostasy - especially in the world of “Christianity”. (Mathew 13.31-33, 2 Timothy 3.1-7))

Confounded

“Let them be confounded that persecute me, but let not me be confounded:”Jeremiah 17.18

It is worth noting that the Prophet Jeremiah was a real person.

He was real.

God had given him a very difficult job to do – prophesy and preach about “DOOM & GLOOM”... for some 40 years, or so, before the complete destruction of Jerusalem.  Almost all the people Jeremiah knew hated him for what he had to say, the “shoot the messenger” mentality.

Peace, Quietness, & Assurance

“…peace …quietness and assurance for ever.”Isaiah 32:17

That sounds good, “peace … quiet”... in fact - that sounds great!

We often think, “Peace and quiet… ahh!”

Hang on, there’s more, there is the other word, “assurance” – that’s great too.  We can have the assurance that everything will be peace and quiet and that everything will work out for the best!

That’s just a fairy tale!

Nobody can have all of that… can they?
