Not God’s people

If my people...” - 2 Chronicles 7:14

If not God’s people, then who?

I love this verse.  The entire verse says, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Calling God a Liar?

If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar,” - 1 John 1:10

Some people think the Bible is hard to understand...

I don’t have any trouble understanding that verse, “If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar”.

Sure I would like to think that I am a pretty good person, and if we claim to be born again Christians we certainly ought to be living right but, “If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar”.

Life’s Verse

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” - Isaiah 26.3

This is one of those “Life’s Verses”.

This is a verse that many people hold on to when they really, really need the Lord’s help.  It is a great verse and a verse that we should all know well.  It flows.  It is true.  We can believe it.  We should hide it in our heart!

Right now this verse is making me ask myself:

Be Strong

If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee,

then how canst thou contend with horses?

Jeremiah 12.5

In the above verse Jeremiah is actually facing a very personal struggle.  He is being persecuted by the people of his own town and family.

Houses In The Rocks

...houses in the rocks;” - Proverbs 30.26

This week we look at the conies again because they are such curious little creatures with great things to teach us.

We know they are “feeble folk”, and we know they work together to make their “houses in the rocks.”

“The conies are but a feeble folk,

yet make they their houses in the rocks;”

Sow Beside All Waters

Blessed are ye that sow beside all waters” - Isaiah 32.20

God has given us (born-again Christians who are part of the local New Testament Baptist church) the job of planting the word of God everywhere we go at every opportunity!  In the Bible “waters” often gives a picture of the different places, countries and nationalities.

Here are some thoughts I try to keep in mind as I go about my day interacting with people.

And Lead Us Not Into Temptation

“And lead us not into temptation,” - Matthew 6.13

Think about it!

The above phrase is what we commonly call the “Lord’s Prayer.”  It was to be an example of things we should pray about.

How true, and how needful! “…lead us not into temptation,”

Sure, we all face testing and difficulty.  And yes, the Lord does test us and try us, to see how we will react -  but we can still pray, “…lead us not into temptation,”.

And David… Behaved Himself Wisely.

“And David… behaved himself wisely:” - 1 Samuel 18:1

The way David acted in 1 Samuel 18 – following the great victory that the LORD gave him over Goliath – would affect the way he acted throughout the rest of 1 Samuel – when the victory became history and life for David went sour!

David “behaved himself wisely”.

We ought to be known for “behaving ourselves wisely.”

Whose daughter are you?

Whose daughter are you?  (Sorry fellas – but it is Mother’s Day!)

Yes, we all have an earthly mother.  We should honour her and love her in Christ, but the above verse is directing our thinking to spiritual matters when it says that you – if you are a born again Christian woman – are a daughter of... Sarah?

Open Our Eyes Lord

And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man...”

2 Kings 6.17

Do you ever try and try... and try - to help someone see something that they just can’t seem to see?

Of course we do - if we have anything to do with serving the Lord – just like the situation with Elisha here.

We must understand the part we play in the lives of people by simple PRAYER.  (Because God does hear it!)
