Houses In The Rocks

...houses in the rocks;” - Proverbs 30.26

This week we look at the conies again because they are such curious little creatures with great things to teach us.

We know they are “feeble folk”, and we know they work together to make their “houses in the rocks.”

“The conies are but a feeble folk,

yet make they their houses in the rocks;”

It has been said, that these conies, when they are threatened, will quickly run to a safe hole that has been dug next to and then under a rock. There they will be safe until the danger has gone.  It seems there are many of these safe holes next to various rocks in their patch of ground!

We too should learn to make and build our houses, or homes, in the rocks.  Of course the first thought is that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Rock of our Salvation.  “O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.” Psalm 95.1

But there are further thoughts we can have regarding “the rocks”.  We can think of the God-given things in our lives that God has given us to find safety and shelter next to and under... places we can hurry to in times of danger.  Some of these would include our home, our local, independent Baptist church, and the Word of God.  These are “rocks” we can shelter next to and under whenever we find ourselves in any danger!

Run with patience,
