Turn Us O God

“Turn us, O God”

Psalm 85.4

This should also be our prayer!!!  We believe this Psalm is speaking of the time that Israel returned from the years of captivity in Babylon and the previous verses speak of the things that the Lord had clearly done:

“LORD, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob. Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.” (vs 1-3)

Six amazing things God had done for His people because of His love, His compassion and... because of His PROMISES!

So the people of the Psalm, in response to the goodness of God, say, “Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease... Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? ”

And the Lord our God is so able to “Turn us” and to “revive us”!

It is all part of what God has for us.  Remember what the Prophet Jeremiah had recorded regarding God’s promises: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”  Jeremiah 29.11

Favour, end of captivity/restoration, forgiveness, sin covered, wrath gone, anger turned away...

“Turn us, O God”  ...Please turn us O God so that we can fully enjoy the amazing blessings of belonging to You! Amen!
