Who made the earth tremble?

  “Is this the man that made the earth to tremble?"

Isaiah 14.16

Who is this?

“Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;” (Isaiah 14.15-16)

Verse 12 tells us who this is, “How art thou fallen... O Lucifer,”!

For all the evil power, and for all the horrible wickedness that Satan is, that the devil is, in the end people will see him and say, “Is this the man that made the earth to tremble”?

People, and I am assuming we would be included here, will “narrowly look... and consider” trying to “get it together”, so to speak – “Is this really the devil?”  “Is this really Satan?”  “Is this really the one who made everyone on earth terrified at times by his cruelty and power and intimidation?”  “Really?”

“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer...”

“Is this the man that made the earth to tremble,

that did shake kingdoms;”

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”  (Ephesians 6.12)

“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”  (1 John 4.4)
