“...they did not choose...” - Proverbs 1.27

For the longest time I did not realize exactly what this verse in Proverbs actually said.  I always thought it said, “...they would not choose...”  But it actually says, “did not”...  they already made their decision.

“...they did not choose...”

Often when we have a choice we DO NOT choose.  We think, “Well I would if I could...”  But, the fact of the matter is, often when we did, we didn’t.

“...they did not choose the fear of the LORD.”

For those without Christ this matters, “Life has many choices - but for Eternity there are only two, which choice have you made?”

This also applies to the everyday Christian life: Do we choose the fear of the LORD?  Some think the “fear of the LORD” is some sort of archaic idea that makes no sense today.  Actually, it makes about as much sense as a Police car with sirens...  either it can be behind us  - not good, or it can be ahead of us leading the way in safety.

Sadly though for many, “...they did not choose the fear of the LORD.”

Now it is too late for them.

So,  Choose now to come to Christ.  Choose now to live for Christ.
