Be With Me.

Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am;” - John 17.24

These are the words Jesus prayed the night He was crucified.  I think of them often because I am amazed and humbled that the Lord Jesus Christ wants us to be with Him!

I will that they also... be with me”

Jesus is praying to His heavenly Father to let us be with Him!

The heavenly Father will answer that prayer one day.  For now we have to be satisfied that the Lord loves us and He does want us to be in His presence and company.  The Lord wants this to be REAL and ACTUAL – and one day in heaven that will be the case!  We can agree with the Apostle Paul, “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”  (2 Corinthians 5.8)

For now though, we are here, and we have a New Year ahead of us in which to “serve the LORD with gladness”, and to “come before his presence with singing”!

We have a great Salvation!  We have a blessed church!  We have new songs to learn and sing!  God provides for our needs!  Praise God, may we enjoy our service to the Lord and agree with the Apostle Peter when he said (and we can now sing it because we learned the song!) “Whom having not seen, ye love.” (1 Peter 1:8)   HAPPY NEW YEAR!

              Run with patience,
