“Ye shall henceforth return no more that way.”

Deuteronomy 17:16

Don’t go back!  The Lord was reminding the Jews that they had been freed from captivity in Egypt – don’t go back!

It’s the same when a person becomes a born again Christian.  Free from captivity to sin, free from the sin of bad habits, bad attitudes, sadness, selfishness, loneliness, and a life full of trouble!

The song says it so well, “Free from the law, Oh happy condition! Jesus hath bled and there is remission! Cursed by the law and bruised by the fall - Christ hath redeemed us, once for all!”

Redeemed i.e., RANSOMED!  Remission i.e., FREEDOM!  And the wonderful blessing of repentance (a change of mind) makes it all possible!

The book of Hebrews tells us these things are settled once for all!  “we are sanctified (saved) through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”  “...repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,” and in the book of Acts, “...repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation?” (Hebrews 10:10, Hebrews 6:1, Acts 20:21, Hebrews 2:3)

So why go back? Why GO BACK INTO SLAVERY TO SIN?

DON’T!

Don’t ever go back, instead “go forward”! (Exodus 14.15)

What a blessing to have so great a salvation!  Do you, have it?  Because once we do, “Ye shall henceforth return no more that way.”
