“we have this treasure”

2 Corinthians 4.7

The above quote comes from the Apostle Paul when he said, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.”  (2 Corinthians 4:7-10).

“We are troubled…”  Yes, I feel that… but this makes me – by God’s grace - really think about how all of this is a treasure!  There are times when I don’t think I understand it, then there I times I understand it quite well!

 Troubled yet… not distressed!

 Perplexed but… not in despair!

  Persecuted but… not forsaken!

  Cast down but… not destroyed!

Always bearing… the dying of the Lord!

It is all about Him… NOT ME!

As a born again Christian, we may experience the same ups and downs that everyone else experiences, but… in Jesus Christ our Lord - we have a Hope, a Faith, and this Treasure, all of this, sees us through difficult times!  In fact… the troubles etc. are part of the… treasure..?

We may need to make a list of the things that trouble, perplex, persecute and cast us down, then in prayer to our Heavenly Father, offer them to Him with a humble heart, and cast them on Him because He cares! “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

(1 Peter 5:7).
