“mine affliction… it increaseth…”

Job 10.15-16

This sounds like someone is just complaining again, but it’s not.  No, this is going to a level most of us will NEVER see…

“mine affliction… it increaseth…”

This is Job.  He knew the Lord.  He was a perfect (mature) and upright man.  Job feared the Lord.  He loved the Lord, and he hated evil.  He was a good husband and father and made sacrifices for his family.  He was also kind, wealthy, and a generous leader in his community.

Then the day came that he lost everything.

Job lost all of his means of income and future income.  All of his cattle, asses, sheep, camels, and most of his servants were either stolen or died.  All ten of his children died the same day.  Then he became terribly ill and, his wife was extremely depressed, confused and struggling.

“mine affliction… it increaseth…”

Job is not “just complaining again”!  Job is just trying to make sense of the disaster that his life had become…  “If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine affliction; For it increaseth. Thou huntest me as a fierce lion...”

Job’s life was horribly confusing, and it would go on for a while longer… “mine affliction… it increaseth…”  His life was horrible… and it would go on for a while longer…

Sometimes we can relate to Job, and when we do then let’s be as patient and as strong as we can be… because sooner or later, for those who know the Lord… “joy cometh”! Psalms 30:5
