“It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

Lamentations 3:22-23

Imagine you were born in 1900.  When you're 14, World War I begins, then ends with 22 million dead.  Then, a global pandemic, the Spanish Flu, appears, killing 50 million. And you're alive and 20 years old!  When you're 29 you survive the global economic crisis that started with the collapse of the New York Stock Exchange, causing inflation, unemployment and famine.

When you're 33 years old the Nazis come to power, and when you're 39, World War II begins and by the end 60 million are dead including 6 million Jews.  When you're 52, the Korean War begins.  When you're 64, the Vietnam War begins and ends when you're 75. (adapted, original source unknown)

Since then there have been several wars, catastrophes, natural disasters, and through it all the Bible is still true and has been the comfort and guide to truly born again Christians.  Have you truly been born again?  “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Romans 8:1

Last year a drone photo made the news of surfers who had no idea that a great white shark was a few meters below them!  I think this illustrates our Bible verse very well!  “It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.”
