“I know that my redeemer liveth”

Job 19:25

Job’s friends would never convince Job that he deserved what he was experiencing because of what Job knew!

Job knew he was a sinner in need of redemption, he knew he needed someone to “buy him back”, because he was a slave to sin from birth.

Job knew the One who had bought him back.

Job knew His redeemer, and Job knew that his redeemer, his Saviour, God and Friend would tell him if he had any serious issues!  That is the nature of THIS redeemer, this Saviour, this Friend and God, and that had not happened - Job knew it!

Job never claimed to be perfect or without sin, but he was forgiven, he was redeemed, and he knew where he stood with God, and he knew, that what he was experiencing, was not the norm!

Yes, in the end God pointed out that his attitude could have been better… that there was no need to even ask the “Why Question”… leave it alone… walk away… we can, if we know… what Job knew, if we know Who… Job knew… Yes, God dealt with that, but this was a different thing.

For us, we need to know that we have been redeemed from our sin.  Can you say, “I know that my redeemer liveth”?

Later Job said, “the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered for ever from my judge.” Job 23:7. (“dispute” means, “to argue, to decide, justify or convict, chasten, convince, (correction) plead, reason (together)”.

Now, here’s a good question… Do you know of any other god who allows or encourages his followers to “dispute” with Him?  It’s only possible because of our… Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ… who died to make it possible, and who now LIVES!  “Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 7:25, Hebrews 4:16.

Don’t ever be afraid to come to Him – He will help!  You can know it!  And at least this God can hear us when we have a question… or dispute… and trust Him – He can sort us out!
