“I am chief.”

1 Timothy 1.15

Three little words…

When we see it like that, and read it like that, it sounds like this person thinks a lot of himself to make such a claim… “I am chief.”

But actually the opposite was true.  It is the Apostle Paul and he is telling us what he thinks of himself, “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners…”

“of whom I am chief.”

Like the song says, “Only a sinner… saved by grace”

And the other song, “Chiefest of sinners, all will be there…

“I am chief… Chief of sinners…”  Now I must ask myself what I think of myself… what am I “chief” of?  Could I also say I am “chiefest of sinners”?

Luke 7:47 tells us, “Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.”

“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners;

of whom I am chief.”
