“Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling”

Isaiah 51:22

When I read this recently, all I could think was – Thank You Lord!

Thinking about being unsaved, and without Christ, my hands held a “cup of trembling”!  But when the nails went into the hands of Christ… no more “cup of trembling”

Thank You Lord for taking this fear and dread and worry – this “cup of trembling” away from me!

Here in Isaiah, we read this, “Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as a wild bull in a net: they are full of the fury of the LORD, the rebuke of thy God. Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine: Thus saith thy Lord the LORD, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again:” Isaiah 51:20-22

Yes, we know that people suffer when the Lord has to judge sin!  God pleads with people to turn from their sin and turn to Him!  Jesus died on the cross for our sin!  The cup of God’s wrath was poured out on Jesus.  God “…made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”  2 Corinthians 5:21

“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”  Romans 8:2

Have you received this gift of eternal life?  Do you know the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour?  Then you can also say, “Thank You Lord for making me free from the eternal judgement of sin and this “cup of trembling”!

“Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling”
