“backsliding children”

Jeremiah 3:14

Does my grandson need prayer?  In the Bible “backsliding” is a bad thing!

My grandson seems to be “backsliding”.  Should this be a concern?

He’s 6 months old now!

He has started sliding and scooting backwards and sometimes gets himself stuck under the couch a bit!  He thinks it’s the “end of the world”!  Then he squawks and his Mummy or Daddy comes to help him!  Poor little fella!

Newborn Christians are the same, I think!  Sometimes they’re not crawling or walking yet, so they scoot around and sometimes slide backwards, or “backslide” into something where they could get stuck, or even hurt.  Then sometimes they squawk.

Newborn Christians have a heavenly Father who will help them.  They also should have Christians friends and a church who will help.  Ultimately, they need to grow out of that scooting backward stage.

Where are you friend?  Scooting back?  Or helping others?  Whichever it is, may we all grow in Christ!

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. (1 Peter 2:2-3, 2 Peter 3:18)
