“And Jacob lived... And the time drew nigh that Israel must die...”

Genesis 47.28-29

When Jacob described his life he said, few and evil have the days of the years of my life been” (Genesis 47.9).  He realized that he had lived much of his life selfishly and immaturely... and now the truth was, he MUST die.

“And Jacob lived... And the time drew nigh that Israel must die...”

The year of our Lord 2023 has come and is now gone!  Have we lived for the Lord Jesus Christ?  Has our faith been challenged, tested, exercised, and have we grown in the Lord because of that?  How are we looking at the New Year?  Are we looking “in faith nothing wavering” (James 1.6), are we seeking God’s help “by faith”? (Hebrews 11)

By God’s grace we CAN do ALL of that, and we CAN look forward to the New Year with joy!  Because the Lord will help us change and grow to be better Christians!

Like Moses says in Psalm 90.12, “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

Yes, Jacob said “few and evil have the days of the years of my life been”, but the Bible, the Lord goes on to say this:

Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:” Psalms 146:5

And Jesus said this about death, “But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.” Matthew 22:31-32

Have you been BORN AGAIN?  Then let’s “go forward” (Exodus 14.15d) and live for the Lord Jesus Christ in “The Year of our Lord 2024”!
