“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”

Galatians 3:26

The object of our faith matters!

Someone who says that they are a born again Christian is saying that they have put their… “faith in Christ Jesus”.  Not in doing “good” things.  Like, being a good person, going to church, giving money to a church or a charity; or saying a lot of prayers, or praying to Mary, the saints, or beads or icons.

If we put our faith in ANY of that, then Jesus is not “the object” of our faith. The object of our faith matters!

If I were to hold up a glass of kerosene and then say to you, “I believe… that if I drink this it will quench my thirst.”  What would you do?  You know that drinking kerosene won’t quench my thirst – I need water (or something safe like water!).  You might even tell me I’m crazy to think that drinking kerosene will quench my thirst!

That I have put my faith in the wrong thing/object!

Speaking of Himself, Jesus said, “whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst”  (John 4:14) The object of our faith matters when it comes to getting to heaven!

Is your “faith in Christ Jesus”?  Is He the ONLY object of your faith for salvation?  Can you say like the words of this wonderful song below?

My faith has found a resting place

Not in device nor creed
I trust the Ever-living One
His wounds for me shall plead

I need no other argument,

I need no other plea,
It is enough that Jesus died,
And that He died for me. (Lidie Edmunds)
