“But unto thee have I cried, O LORD; and in the morning shall my prayer prevent thee.”

Psalm 88.13

The word “prevent” here means, “to meet, hasten, or to be in front of”, and the Psalmist here is speaking to the Lord from his heart in saying that his prayer is going to be in front of the Lord.  It is going to go meet the Lord.  His prayer is going to be going early in the morning to the Lord!

Could we start praying as soon as we wake up in the morning?  However we wake up, or for whatever reason, could we start praying immediately when we wake up?

We are so blessed to be reminded and encouraged to bring our prayers before the Lord!  And we are encouraged to make our prayers go to Him with urgency and importance!  Our God does hear our prayers!  Our God does want to know what is on our heart!  May we know how good it is to pray to our God!

Could we start praying as soon as we wake up in the morning?  However we wake up, or for whatever reason, could we start praying immediately when we wake up?

Absolutely!  Let’s try to make this our habit!

Here are a few more verses to encourage us: “My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.” (Psalms 5.3)

“I prevented the dawning of the morning and cried: I hoped in thy word.” (Psalms 119.147)

“Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate in thy word.” (Psalms 119.148)

“And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. (Mark 1.35)
