“The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.”

2 Chronicles 25:9

But I think this guy took what God said too far!

The king had invested a lot of money, but it came with strings attached, so the Lord told him to let it go because He would look after him.  Here is the whole verses: “And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.”

But I think this king took that too far!

Yes, God gave him a great victory!  Yes, God gave him a lot more than he had lost!  But then king Amaziah brought home with him the gods of the enemy!!!

The gods that his own God had defeated!

“…he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them… Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand?” 2 Chronicles 25:14-16

We need to careful when God blesses us, that we don’t take it too far!  When God blesses our job, or increases our pay, be careful of covetousness i.e. wanting more “stuff”.  When the Lord blesses us with a good church, and friends, then be very protective that bad influences don’t creep in.  When the Lord blesses our homes, and our families, don’t ever take them for granted!

Yes, this king was told, “The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.”  But I really think that he took it too far, and it turned out bad for him!
