“That I may cause…”

Proverbs 8:21

Cause what …an accident?  That word “cause” makes me think along those lines.  “That person was careless and they caused an accident.”

It sounds bad.

Or it sounds like someone is being MADE to do something, “For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.” Isaiah 9:16 or from Jeremiah 19.7, “I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies...”

That sound really bad!

But that is not what this verse in Proverbs is talking about at all.

It is God telling us, as the voice of Wisdom, that He wants us to love wisdom and get wisdom so that…

“I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.”

For all the bad choices people make that do cause them problems… as born again Christians we have this incredible opportunity: Love God and His Wisdom as we read and learn about it in His Word, and when we do… God will fill our lives with a lot of great, amazing and wonderful things!
