“The heart of the righteous studieth to answer:”

Proverbs 15.29

The heart of someone who knows the Lord, a right heart, will know that it needs to put in the effort… the study to have an answer!

The Christian life requires us to make time, take time and give time to study – which is a battle:

Battle in Bible Reading.  Jesus said in John 17.17, “Sanctify them through thy word: thy word is truth.”  We need to know the truth, and it’s in the Bible!  Like drinking water, it may not always be as exciting as we want, but we still need it… so put in the effort to get it!

Battle in Prayer.  Speaking of Jesus in Luke 6.12, we read, “And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.”  There are so many examples of battling in prayer in the Bible.  When you read them, pray them for yourself!

Battle in MeditationGoing over the scriptures, meditation is thinking about something, thinking through something, so think about, through your Bible reading and prayer. Follow the topics, stories and thoughts from the Bible.  This is spiritual, and often a battle to do!  “Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” 1 Corinthians 2.13

Battle in Thought.  “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.” Philippians 4.8-9

Then look for the blessing, because God will give them!  “The heart of the righteous studieth to answer:” “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” “…the battle is the LORD’s…” Ephesians 6:11, 1 Samuel 17.47
