“…seek peace, and pursue it.”

Psalm 34.14

Peace never “just happens”!

It doesn’t always have to be a BATTLE… but it does always take effort to get peace.  This is what the above verse is telling us… “Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.”

God wants us to have peace.  Our Heavenly Father does all He can do to give us peace… “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”  (Jeremiah 29.11)  And knowing that should help us to work at having peace.

In the New Testament the Apostle Peter held on to this Psalm when he said, “For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.”

1 Peter 3:10-11

So, once we have done all we know to do, once we have looked for peace, once we have been the one to “seek peace”, and we have looked for every possible solution in the Bible and in prayer; once we go after peace, “and pursue it” – once we have done our part, then God will do His part: “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4.7)

“…seek peace, and pursue it.”
