“…expert in war...”

1 Chronicles 12:35

This is a very interesting chapter to me.  David will soon become king of Israel, and this chapter lists some sixteen groups of men out of all the tribes of Israel, some tribes represented more than once.  The total was about 336,000 men of war.  Then verse 40 tells us “there was joy in Israel.”

“…expert in war...”  “…there was joy in Israel.”

Just over a week ago, we observed Remembrance Day… on the 11th hour of the 11th month… Remembrance Day.  We observed the end of World War I, and we remembered those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.

War is a terrible thing.  It exists because the heart of man is sinful.  And though we may not understand all the rights and wrongs of any given war, one thing we do know – Jesus came to win the war in our heart!  Jesus said, I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 10:10, John 14:27).

Has the ultimate war in your heart come to an end yet?

Do you know Christ as your Saviour?  Do you know peace?  You can – come to Christ now in repentance and faith, then serve Him with all of your heart!

And Christians… yes, even born-again believers are in a spiritual struggle, a spiritual war, and we need to be “…expert in war...”!  We need to be prepared with our Christian armour on!  (Ephesians 6.10-18)  Then we can have joy if the Lord Jesus Christ is first… in our life!
