Your Adversary The Devil

“...your adversary the devil...” - 1 Peter 5.8

I’m not your enemy... the devil is.

Do you ever feel like you are trying to help someone but they are resisting everything you are trying to do?

Maybe you feel you are giving sound advice, or the example you are setting is good and clear, but it’s not appreciated?

Maybe whatever you are saying or doing is just not received well, and instead you are being treated like you are “the enemy”!

Then you feel like saying, “Hey! I’m not your enemy... the devil is!”

And that should be the truth.  Sure we have the example of the disciple Peter who was correcting the Lord Jesus, and Jesus said to him, “Get thee behind me, Satan”.  Any one of us can get out of place and say things we shouldn’t, but for the most part, we are the ones trying to help others in the right way!

We are not the enemy – the devil is!

I believe this is when we need to pray according to 2 Timothy 2.24-26,  “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;   And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”

As faithful Christian people we are the servants of our Lord – we are not “the enemy” – the devil is!  “Whom resist steadfast in the faith”!

            Run with patience,
