Your Adversary

“...your adversary the devil...”

1 Peter 5.8

I’m not your enemy... the devil is.

Do you ever feel like you are trying to help someone, but they are resisting everything you are trying to do?

You feel you’re giving good advice, and you’re setting a good example, but it’s not appreciated - instead you’re being treated like you are “the enemy”?

Then you feel like saying, “Hey! I’m not your enemy... the devil is!”

Of course, none of us are perfect, remember the disciple Peter who was correcting the Lord Jesus, and Jesus said to him, “Get thee behind me, Satan” (Mark 8.33).  Any one of us can get out of place and say things we shouldn’t, but for the most part, we are the ones trying to help others!

We are not the enemy – the devil is!

So let’s pray, keeping 2 Timothy 2.24-26 in mind,  “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,  In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;   And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.”

We are the Bible-believing Christians, we are the servants of our Lord – we are not “the enemy” – the devil is!  “Whom resist steadfast in the faith”! (1 Peter 5.9)
