The following is adapted from “A Soft and Effeminate Christianity” by Horatius Bonar, Scottish pastor, poet and songwriter, 1808-1889.
“David said unto God, I have sinned greatly... I have done very foolishly.” - 1 Chronicles 21.8
In the above passage we find King David needing to take full responsibility for God’s judgment which was falling on his kingdom, the nation of Israel.
He was the king, the leader, and he confessed, “I have done very foolishly” by numbering the people when God had told him not to.
