We have this Treasure

“we have this treasure”

2 Corinthians 4.7

The above quote comes from the Apostle Paul, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.”  (2 Corinthians 4:7-10)

It makes me really think about how all of this is a treasure!  There are times when I don’t think I understand it, then there I times I understand it quite well!

Troubled yet… not distressed!

Perplexed but… not in despair!

Persecuted but… not forsaken!

Cast down but… not destroyed!

Always bearing… the dying of the Lord!

It is all about Him – not us!  As a born again Christian, we may experience the same ups and downs that everyone else experiences, but… in Jesus Christ our Lord - we have a Hope, a Faith, and this Treasure, all of this, that sees us through difficult times!  We may need to make a list of the things that trouble, perplex, persecute and cast us down, then in prayer to our Heavenly Father, cast them on Him because He cares! “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Pt 5:7)
