Thy Word

“Thy word…”  Psalm 199.11

One of the things I like best about the Bible is that it’s “just” simply the Bible.  By “just” I mean that the Bible is not a huge or difficult book. The largest book in the world weighs in at some 1500 kg!  And, some books contain words and technical data that only the experts in those particular fields can interpret.

The Bible is not like that at all!

Sure, God used scribes and kings, educated men and wise men to write some parts of it, but He also used shepherds and fishermen, farmers and a fruit picker.  The Bible contains the words of men, women and children.  It contains the words and life stories of the rich and poor, the wise and foolish, the strong and weak.  God used many people to give us His “Word” – the Bible.  So that means many of those same sorts of people can get something out of the Bible!

It was meant to be simple!

Just like being born again and knowing that Christ will save you, or has saved you, is meant to be simple, “…the simplicity that is in Christ.”

(2 Corinthians 11.3)  The Bible tells us how simple salvation really is!

So yes – I love the Bible because it’s just simply the words God knew I needed to hear from Him often.  Besides… the largest book in the world is called “This is Muhammad” and it’s in Dubai… whereas the Bible is… well, it’s “just” the Bible but it’s in my heart!

“Thy word…
