For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.”

Isaiah 30.15

The first part of the verse sounds so good:  God is making a promise.  God is going to do something for His people.  They would go back to living the best days of their lives.  They would have good rest and they would be saved from difficulties.  That’s great!  And that’s not all, they would also have a quiet life, and live in confidence to go about their lives and business with strength and… and so… and so what…?

Yes, that is basically what they said, “So what?” “…ye would not.”

Returning to the best of times, rest, salvation…? “…ye would not.”

Quietness, confidence, strength…? “…ye would not.”

1 Corinthian 10:11 tells us, “Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.”

Personally, I do want all of God’s blessings that I am allowed to have!  So rather than, “can’t/won’t”, and “could not/would not”… I can and I will!  I will listen to the Lord.  I will be content with the things I have.  I will rest in His strength… I will make every application that I can from this verse and learn from it.  I will get into the Bible more.  I will search the scriptures.  So I pray for God to help me, and I will trust God’s Word to be my help and confidence always!  In Jesus’ name… Amen.
