King James Bible 1611

Some people think our King James Bible is hard to understand...

I don’t have any trouble understanding that verse, “If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar”.

Sure I would like to think that I am a pretty good person, and if we claim to be born again Christians we certainly ought to be living right but “If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar”.

Depart not from Me.

But Jesus said unto them,

They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

Matthew 14.16

There will be times as Bible believing Christians when we feel as though we have given and given and we don’t have much more to give.

“Knock knock.” “Who’s there?” “Fear!”

“...shall be quiet from fear...” - Proverbs 1.33

“Knock knock.”  “Who’s there?”  “Fear!”  When was the last time “Fear” knocked on our door?  Who did we send to answer?  Was it Fear’s best mate, Worry?  Or Fear’s mother, Self-centred?  The next time Fear knocks on our door let’s send this “quiet” little verse to answer!

“But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely,

and shall be quiet from fear of evil.”

What Is Man?

“What is man…?” - Job 7.17

What sort of question is this?  “What is man…?”

Man is… well, man is…

Man is probably the most vulnerable of all of God’s creation, “vulnerable” meaning WEAK!

Can man - run like a cheetah?  Swim like a fish?  Fly like an eagle?  Or even a pigeon?  Climb like cat?  Drink like a camel?  Eat like a grizzly – then sleep like one?  If only!

His Mercy Endureth Forever.

“O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good:

for his mercy endureth for…” - Psalm136.1

O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy…

Time for a quiz – multiple choice!

A.      O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for awhile, for people who are really good?

B.      O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for a lifetime!  After that… well who knows?

Allowed of God

“…we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel…” - 1 Thessalonians 2.4

That really is an amazing statement!

“…we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel…”

God has intrusted us with the Gospel!

Faithful are the wounds of a friend

“Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” - Proverbs 27:6

This is such a universal truth!  I think every culture would have a similar proverb.

It is our friends, our true friends who put their “neck on the line” to tell us the truth – and often our worst enemies that just “sweet talk” us into all sorts of trouble!

Someone put it this way:  “You can kiss a fool, and a fool can kiss you, but don’t ever let a kiss fool you!”

Obey or Don't

“…what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?” - 1 Peter 4.17

Often the Bible says things in a way that we have not thought of before.  The above verse says something that I find very interesting:  A person’s eternity depends on simple obedience.

“...the gospel…”

The LORD, Deceived Me?

O LORD, thou hast deceived me,”?

What sort of person would say such a thing!?

O LORD, thou hast deceived me,”

It sounds bad.

And, who would dare to talk to God like that?  Especially someone in the Bible?  Is it the wicked King Ahab?  Or maybe his evil wife Jezebel?  Maybe it is King Herod, or Pilot?

Baptism is ONLY A PICTURE

“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father,

even so we also should walk in newness of life.”  - Romans 6.4

Baptism - A Picture Only.

It was a blessing to baptize five people in to the membership of our church Sunday.  It was also a good time to keep the message clear and plain.
