Sow Beside All Waters

Blessed are ye that sow beside all waters” - Isaiah 32.20

God has given us (born-again Christians who are part of the local New Testament Baptist church) the job of planting the word of God everywhere we go at every opportunity!  In the Bible “waters” often gives a picture of the different places, countries and nationalities.

Here are some thoughts I try to keep in mind as I go about my day interacting with people.

Look people in the eye and... Smile.  It is often a rare thing in our culture today especially when people don’t feel they know someone, or are suspicious – whereas we want everyone to come to know the Lord!

Listen.  There are times when we are not sure if we can do anything to help someone come to Christ!  But we can give a little bit of our time to listen to them... It may be the thing they respond to, or remember, when they need a friendly, caring ear.

Learn from others.  Others around us can be a blessing to us as we listen to them in their testimony and witness.  How do they share their testimony?  How do they use scripture in the right way?  How do they communicate, or listen, or speak?  Is the point clear and kind?  Do they get the point across in a good way?

Let God lead.   The Lord knows everyone and their need – He knows when someone is not ready or open to the Gospel and he also knows when we clearly and simply should say, “Ye must be born again”, or “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved,” or “It is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment,” so we trust the Lord and follow His lead.

With so many people coming and going here in Canberra we certainly are blessed when we... “sow beside all waters”
