The Shield of Faith

“...the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able

to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”

Ephesians 6:13-18

      Thank the Lord we go into this New Year with the armour of God!

The Bible speaks much of the spiritual warfare in which we are involved as born again believers: 2 Corinthians 9:7, 26, 2 Corinthians 10:4, 1 Timothy 1:18, 6:12, 2 Timothy 2:3-4, 4:7, Hebrews 10:32, 11:34 are a few passages that deal with this struggle.

The battle for the truth, for the Word of God and for the Gospel is a part of every Christian’s life.  And, whether we want this “fight” or not, the Devil is fighting, and he is fighting with every weapon he has!  When we read our Bible – he is fighting!  When we pray – he is fighting!  When we are active as part of our New Testament Baptist Church – he is fighting!

We should always be thanking the Lord for our spiritual armour!  Whatever may be coming our way, we will be safe and ready to face it because we have, “the whole armour of God… Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;  And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:  Praying always…”
