...to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

(Based on 1 Timothy 1.15)

What sort of sinner am I?

The Apostle Paul makes it very clear what he thought of himself... He saw himself as the “chief” of sinners. Do we know why?  Not completely, but Paul does tell us how he fought against God and persecuted those who had trusted Jesus Christ as their Saviour.  It may not seem that Paul was “as bad as some”, but he certainly knew he was without Christ having no hope, and without God – dead in trespasses and sins! (Ephesians 2.12 and verse 1)

He knew also the ungodliness and rebellion of his heart – he was the “chief” of sinners! But Paul was now a SAVED sinner! Paul had a clear testimony of what sort of sinner he was and that testimony was shared many times for others to know – regardless of what sort of sinner we know we are – we can be saved because... “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
