The Righteous Eateth To The Satisfying of His Soul

“The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul.” - Proverbs 13.24

Whenever I come across this verse I find and I need it!

There are times when we seem to go, go, go.  But we wonder whether we are getting anywhere.   Sometimes we give and give of ourselves doing what we believe the Lord has asked us to do - and we are worn out!

Sometimes we may wonder, are we like Martha to whom the Lord said, “Martha, thou art careful (full of care) and troubled about many things: but one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41-42)

Martha was caring too much about too many things!  She was cumbered (burdened or oppressed) about with much ‘serving’.  Whereas Mary was sitting, listening to the Lord.

The verse in Proverbs reminds us that we need to spend time with the Lord: in the Word of God, and in times of prayer to allow a chance for our soul to fill to its satisfaction.

There are times when we have a lot going on… so put Christ first!  There are times when we are busy… put our Bible reading first.  There are times when we are “on the go” …take time to pray, and stay in prayer on the go!  By doing so- other things will work themselves out – because it our privilege and opportunity...

The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul.

Run with patience,

Pastor
