Resist the Devil

“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” - James 5.7

That is one of the greatest promises to the born again Christian!

Sure, it is not always easy to do – but what a PROMISE!

“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

I find it interesting that the verse DOES NOT SAY, “Resist the devil, and he will flee.”  It is very important that the verse DOES NOT SAY THAT!

If that was what the verse said, then it would be quite impersonal really.  No, this promise is for us, it is personal, it speaks to us, to those who need to know where we stand with God’s help.

So the verse says, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

The next time we find the devil trying to slide past our armour, the next time we find him, trying to slither around the Word of God, or inviting us to skip church (with good reason – of course!), or putting maybe true, but very unkind words in our mouth – we should, and we can - “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Run with patience,
