A Perverse Spirit

“The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof:” - Isaiah 19.14

That is about the last thing anyone would want, wouldn’t you say?  When it comes to all that the Lord does, He does so much; but I wouldn’t want Him to do that.

Do what? “The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst...”

Here are people, the Egyptians, who have seen “The LORD” do some amazing things.  They saw the judgment of the Lord upon them when He sent the plagues.  They saw “The LORD” lead the children of Israel out of Egypt, through the Red Sea, and through the wilderness for forty years. Finally, “The LORD” took His people into the Promised Land. What did the Egyptians learn from all of this? Not much!

Not much, because now - “The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof:”

We can learn from this and see the truth of the verse – 2 Chronicles 16:9

“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.”

May we never get ourselves in the position where, “The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst...” of our lives, our homes, our church, or even our community!

Run with patience,
Pastor
