Obedience of Christ

“…bringing into captivity every thought

to the obedience of Christ;” - 2 Corinthians 2.5

Our minds are incredibly powerful.  As people we have the capacity to think, to have initiative, to ponder and question, as well as find answers to our questions.  How we choose to use our mind is something worth our consideration.

The verse above begins with, “Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,”

How easily we can allow our imaginations to get away from us.  How easily we can think we know more than the Word of God.  How easily anyone can allow themselves to go down a path of many regrets – for themselves and others.

As born again Christians we have the capacity to read the Bible, to think about what we read, to see sin for what it is and know our own weaknesses.  We also have the ability to pray, to ask for God’s help and guidance.  To ask questions as well as find answers to our questions.  How we choose to use our mind is so important.

We must be putting a guard on our thoughts.  We must be protecting against all that can influence us wrongly.  We must be “bringing intocaptivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”.

Run with patience,

Pastor
