The LORD, Deceived Me?

O LORD, thou hast deceived me,”?

What sort of person would say such a thing!?

O LORD, thou hast deceived me,”

It sounds bad.

And, who would dare to talk to God like that?  Especially someone in the Bible?  Is it the wicked King Ahab?  Or maybe his evil wife Jezebel?  Maybe it is King Herod, or Pilot?

Who would say, O LORD,” and then, “…thou hast” – saying that it was the LORD Who was behind this… this what? “thou hast deceived me”

Who would make such an accusation of the Lord?  Who in the Bible?  Because, it doesn’t sound like an evil wicked person who doesn’t know the Lord, it sounds likesomeone who DOES KNOW the Lord!

O LORD, thou hast deceived me, and I was deceived: thou art stronger than I, and hast prevailed: I am in derision daily, every one mocketh me.

For since I spake, I cried out, I cried violence and spoil; because the word of the LORD was made a reproach unto me, and a derision, daily. Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.”

(Jeremiah 20:7-9)

This is Jeremiah… he is the “weeping prophet”, and until we consider what he saw and endured we could never understand how he could talk like this to the LORD… Nor would we be brave or trusting enough to also say, O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing. (Jeremiah 10:24)
