Look Straight

“…let thine eyelids look straight before thee.” - Proverbs 4.25

I often stop and think about this verse on the fourth of each month when I come across it during my monthly reading of the Book of Proverbs.  Something I would recommend to everyone – I know I need all the wisdom I can get and Proverbs IS the Book of Wisdom especially when read along with other regular and consistent Bible reading!  The following verses help us see this truth as we consider the phrase above:

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangledagain with the yoke of bondage.”

(Galatians 5:1)

“For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.” (2 Peter 2:20)

No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.”

(2 Timothy 2:4)

So now think about the whole passage: “Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before theePonder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be establishedTurn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.” (Proverbs 4:25-27)

Praise God!  Isn’t that just good, straight-forward, honest advice!?
