Let Him Go

“Who is there among you of all his people?

The LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.” - 2 Chronicles 36.23

The above verse comes at an amazing time in history.  First of all, God uses a non-Jewish ruler, Cyrus – who was the ruler of the then known world, to encourage the work of the Lord.

This came after years and years of God’s people, the Jews, sliding backward from the Lord and spending 70 years in captivity… but God is working His will and… “Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? The LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.”  2 Chronicles 36:23

It’s that little word “let” again!

When God is willing for His work to be done, when God’s will is right there for us to be a part of, when someone wants to get on with serving the Lord… “Who is there among you of all his people? The LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.”

Well, that is us!  Valley Baptist Church.  We are willing in this place and in this time to “go”!  First - we go to the Word of God daily!  We go to the throne of grace daily!  We go to the house of the Lord with ready hearts!  Then, we go to lost souls around us with love, kindness and compassion!
