In His Days Shall The Righteous Flourish

“In his days shall the righteous flourish”

Psalm 72.7

“A Psalm for Solomon.”  That is the subtitle to this Psalm, the 72nd Psalm.  A Psalm written by David for his son Solomon, who would become king after David.  But also a Psalm telling of “The Son” Who would one day reign as King of kings!  “In his days shall the righteous flourish”.

In the same Psalm we read verse 6, “He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass”.  For those who know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour His future coming, and His presence now, is a time of blessing.  It is a time of refreshing.  And just as we can enjoy the beauty and wonder of the rain on the grass, we can enjoy the showers of blessings offered to us as we walk and talk with the Lord and share His Goodness with others because,

The grass on our side of the fence is always so green!

“In his days shall the righteous flourish”.  We certainly look forward to the time when Christ will rule and reign as King of kings and Lord of lords and He does so in our lives right now.

But, for those without Christ even their best days are empty.  Their grass is never quite green.  In fact - for them - the grass will always be greener on the other side of the fence... just out of their reach.  Some try to ride the fence but, it’s still out of reach... So the Lord says, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11.30)
