“…the God…

2 Chronicles 32.19

“And they spake against the God of Jerusalem, as against the gods of the people of the earth, which were the work of the hands of man.”  2 Chronicles 32:19

Honestly… what can anyone say about that verse other than that they really should NOT have done that!  They should NOT have spoken against the God of Jerusalem… He is NOT like other gods!

They DID NOT know who they were dealing with!

“He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.” Psalms 2:4

It sounds terrible to read that God “laughs” at people like this… but what more can He do?  He has cried.  He has given His only begotten Son.  He has watched man beat His Son, spit on Him and crucify Him and yet He has still offered forgiveness to “whosoever will come”… what more can He do but laugh!?

In another place we read, “O our God, wilt thou not judge them?” 2 Chronicles 20:12

Yes, sooner or later He will.  He did here immediately!  The Book of 2 Kings tells us that 185,000 soldiers died that night!  “And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.” 2 Kings 19:35  “…they spake against the God of Jerusalem…”  Don’t do that… don’t ever do that!
