By faith Abraham…

“By faith Abraham…”

(Hebrews 11:8)

That sounds noble, but we need to understand that what Abraham did, “by faith”, was considered a bit ridiculous, by most people around him at the time.  His nephew didn’t stick to the plan…  His wife changed the plan…  His oldest son wanted nothing to do with the plan… even he doubted the plan himself a time or two…

Begs the question – WHAT EXACTLY was “THE PLAN”?

“By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.” (Hebrews 11:8)

Simple – really.

He – obeyed.

          He – went out.

So, are we sticking to the plan “by faith”?

= Are we clearly “the born again, Bible-believing Christian”, wherever we are?

= Do we set a good example for others to follow?

= Do others see us “obey” the Lord?

= Do others see us going to the things of the Lord?  Abraham “went”

= Do they see us getting away from the ungodly, or questionable influences of the world – Abraham “went out”.

= Do they see that there are times when we’re not exactly sure “whither” (where) we are going… but we will keep going “by faith”?

Are there decisions that have been made “by faith”?  Then… stick to the plan!  Whatever plan God has given us through His Word – stick to it!  It’s wrong for us to say that we know the Lord and then fail to follow Him!  It is our faith that must clearly, and kindly, day in, and day out, tell others that we believe in the living God, by faith!  “By faith Abraham…”
