Depart not from Me.

But Jesus said unto them,

They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

Matthew 14.16

There will be times as Bible believing Christians when we feel as though we have given and given and we don’t have much more to give.

We have prayed, we have shared the Gospel, we have served, we have prayed some more, we have taught what we know… we are weary, and like the disciples we say to the Lord, “We have run out of anything to give.  The time has come to have a break.  What more can we do for these people?  Shouldn’t they go find what they need somewhere else now?”

The disciples: “And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.” (v15)

But Jesus said unto them,

They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

The Lord says the same things to us!  “They need not depart; give ye them to eat.” “…give ye them to eat.”

The way we can continue to “give them to eat” is to stay close to the Bread of Life – Jesus! (John 6.48)  Stay in the Word!  Stay under His Shadow!  He will feed them!  “They need not depart”.

Keep praying.  Keep sharing the gospel.  Keep warning sinners to come to Christ.  Keep encouraging other Christians to be faithful, to the Lord, to their families, to their church.  Keep receiving instruction and correction.  Keep giving of yourself, and when you feel you have given all you can give and it is now time to “send them away”, then listen carefully to the Saviour… They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
