Delight thyself also in the LORD

“Delight thyself also in the LORD;”

Psalm 37.4

What does it mean to “delight” in the LORD?

The word “delight” here means “to be soft,” or “to be delicate”.

“Delight thyself also in the LORD;”

We are encouraged in this passage to be tender toward the Lord, and toward the things of the Lord.  To give the Lord our most precious time and thoughts – He is The One Who captures our - “delight”.  He is The One Who can easily get our attention.  He is The One we most want to please, because He is our Lord - He is our “heavenly Father”.

“Delight thyself also in the LORD;

and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.”

We have the amazing opportunity to walk hand in hand, step for step with our heavenly Father.  We can enjoy trying to match His steps – though they are much greater than ours!  We can enjoy feeling the confidence with which He walks!  Because of this, it is never difficult for us to delight in Him, or to find that He enjoys giving us the desires of our heart – they are so near to the desires of His own heart.
