Be Gentle Unto All

“And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,”  - (2 Timothy 2:24)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

And…

“And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men…”

Are we prepared to be the servant of the Lord this year?  Are we preparing to be gentle, and patient, so that we can teach people what God has shown us so graciously, and… patiently from His Word?

Or are we ready to strive?!  Have we been gearing ourselves up to really get it there and “get a hold of someone”, and “sort them out”… to really give them a piece of our mind!

Maybe that is why so many are “losing their minds”… they’ve been giving to many people a piece of it!

“And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men…”

Just notice how the verse above begins and how it ends:  It begins with the word, “And”. Then it ends with a comma, “,”!  Can we see that there is a lot more here, but it is so important to remember – especially going into a brand new year… “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,”

This verse comes to us from Paul’s last words to Timothy.  They are found in the middle of a lot of teaching on being a good soldier and fighting a good fight, and in all of that, in all of those words from Paul to Timothy, and from God to us we MUST REMEMBER… “And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,”.

May we truly be the servants of our Lord this year and claim all of these great verses!  Remember the words of that great warrior/servant/king, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, David, who faced Goliath and said, “the battle is the LORD’S”!

Run with… patience!
