“That I may cause…”

Proverbs 8:21

Cause what …an accident?  That word “cause” makes me think along those lines.  “That person was careless and they caused an accident.”

It sounds bad.

Or it sounds like someone is being MADE to do something, “For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.” Isaiah 9:16 or from Jeremiah 19.7, “I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies...”

That sound really bad!

“The LORD is...”

Psalm 27.1

That word: “is...”, that little word with just two letters,  “is...”

“The LORD is...”  What exactly should it mean to us?

Well for me, it’s sometimes very important that I realize “The LORD is...”

Yes, the LORD was, and He always will be.  The LORD God, our Lord Jesus Christ is Eternal.  It’s one of His attributes.  And it’s an amazing attribute!  He has always been, and He will always be, and right NOW He IS!!!

And right NOW I really need to know that!

Right now…

“they are wise to do...”?

Jeremiah 4.22

We read this verse in Jeremiah and it sounds like a very good verse of scripture doesn’t it, they are wise to do...”?

It sounds like everything is going the way it should!  It seems like these people have it all together, and “they” have some “wisdom”, and “they” are “doing” something!  It sounds great.  It sounds positive.  It seems they have confidence in what they are doing!  Thank the Lord for people who are doing something!!!

So, what are they wise in doing?

“...in the way...”

Genesis 24.27

Have you ever felt like you were just - “in the way”?

Life bustles this way and that way and you’re neither here nor there, you’re just “in the way”!

Sometimes that is exactly where we need to be - as born again Christians - “in the way”!

“... and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook,”

1 Samuel 17:40

This was David facing Goliath.  He had turned down the offer to use King Saul’s armour and weapons.  Instead, he chose weapons he had tested when he faced a lion and bear protecting his father’s sheep.

“Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.”

Psalm 127.3

Below is a comparison between raising children and bamboo… I found it very interesting!

Did you know that there is a certain type of bamboo that only flowers once every 120 years?

It's certainly puzzling how this plant can keep track of time, but everything 119 years before it germinates will determine how much the bamboo will bloom.  And that's a long time to wait to see the results.

“Accounting that God was able…”

Hebrews 11.19

Someone once said, “To realize the worth of the anchor we need to feel the storm.”

Thank God for the men and women of the Bible who gave testimony to that very REAL TRUTH!

In fact, are there any people we can think of in the Bible who DID NOT feel the storm then HAVE OPPORTUNITY to realize the worth of the ANCHOR?

Many were tested – but refused the Anchor…

But EVERYONE who did the “Accounting” found “that God was able”!!!

“Behold, the noise of the bruit is come”

Jeremiah 10.22

I love this word!  We find it only two times in our King James Bible, and I love it!

The word… “bruit”!

Don’t you just love it too?  …actually, …what does it even mean?  “bruit”?

It means “news”, “rumour”.  It means, something heard, an announcement: news, report, rumour, tidings.  Now pay attention to where we find this word in the Bible:

“Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.” Jeremiah 10:22

“…no secret troubleth thee…”

Daniel 4.9

Now, isn’t that an amazing statement?  It was made by King Nebuchadnezzar to Daniel, “…no secret troubleth thee…”

Compared to the world King Nebuchadnezzar lived in – a world without the one true God and Saviour – Daniel’s world seemed so peaceful, “…no secret troubleth thee…”

It seemed Daniel never had much to worry about…

Could that be true?  “No worries”?

Yes, and no.

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”

Psalm 119.11

What did Jesus DO when he was tempted of the devil...? (Matthew 4 & Luke 4)

So often we face a temptation and we do nothing.

We don’t give in, really.  But unless we DO SOMETHING we remain very, very... very vulnerable.

Temptation comes to everyone.  We are tempted to leave the right ways of the Lord and follow the dark paths – the wrong ways of this world.

Psalm 119.8 asks the question, “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way?”
