Allowed of God

“…we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel…” - 1 Thessalonians 2.4

That really is an amazing statement!

“…we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel…”

God has intrusted us with the Gospel!

That is a huge responsibility, especially considering the rest of what the Apostle Paul says, “But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.”

The good news we have to share with those around us is the message from God to mankind.  How important that we speak it truthfully, the way God has “spelled it out” – which is another thought that goes with the word “Gospel”, “God-spelled”.  How important to know that God will help and He will try, He will test and examine the motives of our heart!

We can say, “Thank You Lord” for such trust, and we should be so mindful of the amazing opportunity and awesome responsibility.

How important to consider the question:  What am I doing with this Gospel?  Have I believed the Gospel for myself in repentance as Jesus says in Mark 1.15?  Then am I part of a local Baptist church as all the believers in the New Testament were taught to be, Acts 2.41,42 & 47?  Then am I doing my part in sharing the Gospel with those around me as Jesus told the church He built, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16.15)

We may not all be preachers like the Apostle Paul, but I pray we agree with Paul and have his humble heart when he says, “For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!” (1 Corinthians 9:16)
